Des choses divines et de leur revelation est le testament philosophique de son auteur, Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi. La premiere evaluation d'ensemble du postkantisme et des grands systemes idealistes qu'il y propose determine encore l'image que nous pouvons nous faire de la philosophie classique allemande. La querelle qu'elle a declenchee et la reponse outranciere que lui a apportee Schelling, blesse par la critique du naturalisme que developpe la deuxieme partie de l'ouvrage, en font le document le plus precieux dont (...) nous disposions pour interpreter les debats qui, durant les premieres decennies du XIXe siecle, ont mis aux prises la philosophie de la religion et la theologie speculative. La discussion des rapports du realisme et de l'idealisme religieux, de la revelation de la raison et de la doctrine positive que Jacobi developpe d'abord en reponse a Matthias Claudius, puis lors d'un dialogue avec Friedrich Schlegel, non seulement eclaire cette lecture de l'histoire de la philosophie a l'heure de l'avenement du nihilisme, mais permet aussi de comprendre ce que l'auteur entend par ce vrai rationalisme qu'il oppose aux philosophes de son temps. Jacobi’s importance in the history of German philosophy has long been recognized. Yet his writings have been little studied in the English-speaking world, mainly because very few of them have been translated. George di Giovanni’s translation and edition of some of Jacobi’s main philosophical writings now fills this serious gap. This is the first major scholarly edition in English of Jacobi’s writings. The quality of the translation and the editing set a high standard for future work. Giovanni’s translations capture the (...) freshness and fluency of the German original, and his scholarly notes leave nothing to be desired in thoroughness and erudition. But it is not only students who will appreciate this volume. The long introduction, and the many notes, will be useful even for specialists. Jacobi Sur l'entreprise du criticisme de ramener la raison a l'entendement ouvre la voie a une comprehension differente du moment idealiste et a une lecture alternative, aussi eloignee des interpretations phenomenologiques que neokantiennes, de la Critique de la raison pure et des pensees qui en sont issues. De tous les commentaires que les contemporains de Kant ont pu donner de la premiere Critique, il est, malgre diverses incomprehensions, l'un des seuls qui conservent encore aujourd'hui une pertinence. (...) Avec la Lettre a Fichte, dont il est le prolongement, il offre en effet une premiere elaboration philosophique du concept de nihilisme. Le diagnostic qu'il etablit doit alors se comprendre non seulement comme le point d'aboutissement des querelles theologicophilosophiques qui, a la fin du XVIIIe siecle, ont mis aux prises la philosophie de la religion et la theologie speculative, mais aussi comme un jugement qui engage a lui seul tout l'avenir du postkantisme. Ecrits au moment de la querelle de l'atheisme et contemporains de la formation des grands systemes idealistes, ces deux textes constituent un document irremplacable pour qui veut comprendre le devenir de la philosophie moderne: apres l'injonction de Jacobi a affronter directement la question du neant, jamais plus une philosophie ne pourra faire l'economie de ce probleme. Research with psychiatric patients raises frequently discussed, ethical questions, one of which is: Can psychiatric patients give consent to participation in research at all? To answer this and similar questions adequately, it is - according to our thesis - necessary to analyze first, which theoretical assumptions are made in established practice. -/- To solve the question after the possibility of consent, compatible understandings of ‘disease’, ‘illness’ and ‘autonomy’ are crucial, but there is no consensual use of these terms in philosophy. (...) Therefore we first are going to explain different concepts of ‘autonomy’ and ‘disease’. Subsequent to this we will test how the different conceptualizations of ‘autonomy’ and ‘disease’ can be related to each other and how the reasonable combinations shape possible answers to the opening question. It will become apparent that an adequate analysis of ‘autonomy’ and ‘disease’ raises ethical dilemma in psychiatry, for which we shall suggest possible solutions. (shrink)
